Bouncing Back...BARCA STYLE!!!

After that rant yesterday, the Lord probably took pity on me 'coz today was a wonderful day! Revision for Science Exam has finally made some progress. To top it all, Barca's AMAZING 8-0 win made my day! After the two measly draws against Real Sociedad and AC Milan, I couldn't have asked for a better result. So here are my thoughts on the match (which I managed to catch live after many desperate pleadings and tears! :D)...

The Fabressi...or maye Cessi!
With Captain Puyol starting the match, I expected a stronger defensive performance...and I was right! Except for a li'l slip by Abidal at the start of the match, the defence functioned smoothly. That could also be down to the brilliant performance by our mid-field and forwards. Our exceptionally high possession (85%!!!) made sure that the defense wouldn't be having any problems.

Pep Guardiola, with possession and attack on his mind (as usual) put forth a solid line-up: Victor Valdes, Daniel Alves, Javier Mascherano, Carles Puyol, Eric Abidal; Xavi, Sergio Busquets, Thiago Alcantara; Cesc Fabregas, Lionel Messi, David Villa in the 3-4-3 formation.

Goals from Leo Messi ( hattrick!), Villa (2), Xavi, Cesc and an unlucky Roversio (own goal) were the highlights of the match with Messi hitting the cross bar a few more times being the other golden moments.

I'm not gonna go into a lengthy match-description, just wanna embody the delightful performance by my team. I saw moments of vintage Barca tonight. Our passing was not at it's fluid best, especially after Xavi 'El Maestro' Hernandez was subbed out. Bu what matters was that we converted all the possession into goals. It's pretty typical for Barca to enjoy a 60-70+ possession in games but usually we're unsuccessful in converting it into goals. Tonight, it was all about attack, chances and, of course, Goals!

I've gotta give it to the Osasuna GK (don't remember his name). Had it not been for him and that damned crossbar, Barca could've easily ended up with a double digit victory (I was hoping for a 10-0!). He made a few spectacular saves and denied Messi quite a few times. Clearly, the only Osasuna player who did his job well.

The whole team played well today (BTW, the team Includes Pep 'coz, well, without him Barca would never be Barca) but my MOTM was...Leo Messi with Dani Alves coming a close second thanks to his pin-point crosses and all the endless running (Gosh, doesn't he ever get tired?!). If you haven't figured it out already, I have a thing for Leo Messi and anyway, I think 3 goals and 2 amazing assists should be enough to earn him this title. Plus, his last goal....A Beauty, both, in terms of vision and execution. He just keeps on proving time and again why he's the best player to grace a football field today, maybe, ever. A little genius, truly!

So, that's all from my side today. Till next time...

Visca el Barca!

Me!

P.S: Spotted in the stands:

- Andres Iniesta
- Alexis Sanchez (looking really cute in a rose-pink tee!...gosh, I think I have a crush on him!)

P.PS: Didnt like David Villa's new hairstyle. Makes him look...STRANGE. And, Cesc, dear, get a haircut . Like, NOW.

Quote of the Day: Henri Frederic Amiel

Going with my theme of acceptance, I saw a really meaningful quote online by a certain Henri Frederic Amiel who, according to Wiki, was a Swiss philosopher, poet and critic. Here goes....

"Learn to... be what you are, and learn to resign with a good grace all that you are not."
- Henri Frederic Amiel

Lesson of the Day: Acceptance...NOT my forte!

Things are not very rosy on my side. I've got my terminals starting in two days and I couldn't be feeling worse. Everyone seems to be hell-bent on dragging my confidence down the drain. My dear friends, flaunting their new-found genius, are giving me the inferiority complex. It's not intentional, of course, but it's making me feel dumb. Anything about everything strikes a raw nerve. All the sample papers and task-sheets are doing nothing except making me more depressed about things I don't know...which happen to be a lot. It also doesn't help that my team (FC Barcelona) is going through a rough patch.
Accept yourself: My attempt on becoming less stressed...

Don't get my wrong, I am an academically bright student with a completely functional brain. But my over-criticalness is getting the better of me. It's become a sort of habit for me to compare myself with every person around. I have often blurted out loud: "Dear God, you have given people Beauty AND Brains. But why haven't I got either?". I have been advised not to do that but, huh, easier said than done, right?

I know we all are unique and have our own strengths and weaknesses, but, gosh, I can't seem to stop stressing about my non-existent aptitude for Science and Maths! Couldn't I be given a brain that understands the complex trigonometry identities and formulas instead of the one that I currently have...the one that has a knack for writing and apparently none for Chemistry and Physics?

So now, I've gotta learn how to accept...to put up with my self and my abilities. I'm an accepting person when it comes to others. But when it comes to me? Not quite so. I've gotta put up with the fact that maybe I'm just not wired to become an engineer, or an astrophysicist or, I dunno, maybe a doctor. Maybe I'm destined to become a journalist (maybe not, but who knows? :D)So, lesson of the day: Thank God for all that you are and accept all that you aren't.

Wowie, was that philosophical or what?! Glad to pour it all out. Feeling better already...

Yours,
One and Only,

Me!

The Season's just starting, fellas!

Football Season has started in full swing . The International Break has ended and all the footballers have returned for club duty.

Just watched Barca vs Real Sociedad. Good start by my team but the result was upsetting: 2-2. After scoring two back-to-back goals in a span of about two-minutes, who thought we were going to give the game away?

Well, I surely didn't. In fact, I expected it to be a manita. (FYI: For all those of you who don't follow La Liga, 'Manita' literally means little hand. It's a term used when teams score five goals. Became very popular with Barca's 5-0 routing of Real Madrid last season ;p) The match started with Barca looking their offensive best even with Iniesta and Messi on the bench. They were all- pass, attack, pass, pass, Goal!, Goal!, pass, pass, missed chance- till half-time. In the first half, Alexis Sanchez's unfortunate injury did slow down the pace of the game.

Visca el Barca: Buck up team!
From the very start of second half it was clear that Real Sociedad were back with renewed energy. Add on top of that a very relaxed and complacent Barcelona. The players were content with just moving the ball around instead of attacking and scoring. And that practically cost us a game that I had imagined we already had in hand.

So, who to blame? The infamous FIFA virus? Could be. Maybe fatigue and jet lag was the reason even Lionel Messi looked human during the match, coming on a substitute in the 63' minute. Seriously, I myself am not a fan of International friendlies. They just interrupt the flow of the club season and there's always the risk of players coming back injured.

Moving on, It's pretty certain Real Madrid will have no problems hammering Getafe tonight so they'll go to the top of the table. It always hurts a bit when Madrid are leading but we gotta be hopeful. It's too early in the season to start moping and declaring things. I still remember last season when Hercules defeated us 2-0 at the Nou Camp. It was being termed as 'the beggining of the end for Barca'. Thing turned out to be pretty grand, anyway, didn't they? Liga champions, European champions- not bad, eh?!

In my opinion, this was just a much needed wake-up call to remind the players that the season has begun and it's time to buck up, get set and play. And since this is Barca, people will expect Manitas every other game!

That's all for now, peeps! Feels good to let it all out! :)

Me, Myself and I

P.S: Alexis Sanchez expected to be out for 6-8 weeks. :( Get well soon, Alexis! We need you and your amazing abs back on the pitch asap! :p

My first Blog Post...Yaaaay!!!

Hello everyone (or whoever's reading this, anyway!)

This is my first blog-post ever. And I hope it won't be my last! :)

The reason I decided to start this blog is because I like to speak....a lot! So I decided why not use all my energy (and opinions) and share them with others?!?! I have diverse interests so my posts here won't be related to any specific subject. But one thing I'd like to clarify here- I'm a huge FC Barcelona fan...and I'm addicted to Lionel Messi, so a lot of my posts can be related to them. I'm basically big on Football. But then I do love most sports. I love reading books too, so occasionally you might find reviews of some books that I read. Then there'll be posts about interesting incidents in my life...which may be a lot because I invite trouble pretty often!

I consider myself blessed with good penmanship so I hope you all like what I post. If not, do comment and point out any mistakes that you might find. As for any spelling or grammatical errors, I'll try to avoid them but English is not my first language so....

Anyway, people. Nice to start a blog. To all those of you who do take the time to read this- I'm grateful!

Lots of love
Me!
